The best high school golfers from across the state gathered at the Country Club of South Carolina in Florence over the weekend for the WSCGA High School Invitational. This tournament is the crown jewel tournament for girls high school golf in the state boasting a field of the top 15 high school teams and top 15 ranked individual players from South Carolina. The Wando Lady Warrior team represented very well finishing in sixth place for the weekend. Senior Nicole Whatley paced the Warriors efforts with a score of 151(79-72). Junior Ella Drew Dodd turned in a very consistent score with a 165 (82-83). Eighth grader Grace Lindsey followed suit with a third best 169 (89-80) and Senior Marah Hanson rounded out the team scoring with a 189 (96-93). The Warriors improved a whopping 18 shots between Saturday and Sunday to climb the crowded leaderboard and settle in to sixth place overall behind Lexington, Blythewood, Hilton Head Prep, Chesnee, and Gilbert. The Warriors will take to the course at Dunes West on Wednesday to battle James Island and Fort Dorchester High Schools.
